On 1 July 2026, F.I.R.E. Consultancy’s Dr Khalil Khan and Chris Angle attended Housing Cymru Conference 2026.

We attended to engage with organisations operating within the housing sector to better understand the issues they’re facing with building and occupant safety, while also identifying networking opportunities as we develop our educational programmes.

We were pleased that several organisations expressed an interest in the concept of our FRED Talk Live (Fire Related Educational Development) and the wide array of topics that could be covered, such as safety within the built environment, particularly relating to renewable energy technologies.

This was a consistent theme throughout the day, with a key area of concern the latest government consultation on plug-in solar technology. This raised wider questions around installation standards, occupant safety, product assurance, fire safety considerations and the potential risks associated with new technologies being adopted at scale within domestic settings.

These are the types of topics we’ll be looking to cover in the future via FRED, so it was great to hear more about wider industry concerns and discussion points.
